Do you have a dog who doesn’t really understand the retrieve part of the picture? Maybe they really don’t want to put anything in their mouths, OR they will play with toys but asking for anything that feels slightly formal and the behavior crumbles?
During this workshop we will work through shaping to give our dogs a solid understanding on the value of picking up an item and work towards getting them to move said item. We’ll discuss slowly layering in formality and each team will work wherever they are at within this picture. I love shaping this exercise as it takes the extra pressure away from the dog and really teaches them to value moving items from point a to point b.
